It’s no secret that most of us are far too busy these days, and if we’re going to try and keep up with the demands of our ever-changing world, we’re not likely to get less busy any time soon. At the same time, we end up “giving our all” to everyone else, leaving nothing but a tiny flicker for that which sparks joy inside us.
With a little bit of effort, there are a few simple steps to take so you can move forward and stop neglecting yourself. Deem yourself worthy and make time for you!

OGT: When I get really busy and pressed for time, some of my hard-won good habits tend to fall by the wayside. But when I’m being productive in other ways and doing all the things, I remind myself that I need to maintain my health so I place the reminder to do OGT – one good thing – each day for self-care. OGT includes perhaps (at least) 30 minutes of exercise; my Kitchen Sink Kale Smoothie (or something else equally healthy and ideally yummy), or why not get to bed at a decent hour for a change? Checking all the boxes feels so good, doesn’t it? So add a little something on the list for yourself, too.
Excel. Step up your Leadership Game. Between Quiet Quitting, and now Coffee Badging, if you’re in the office at all you may be inclined to just put your head down and “just do your job”. But staying in your silo is not the way to get ahead. You’re more likely to be successful when you develop your ability to influence and persuade others. Become a mentor. Develop your staff. Build a team.
Stretch. Stop sitting on the sidelines, cheering on everyone else as they push through their private fears on the way to greatness. What’s that big project or special dream you’ve been yearning toward? Today is a fine time to prioritize your own destiny. What are you waiting for?
Build. We live in a DIY world but do you really have to be the one that does it all? I am very creative, and I enjoy nesting and making all the pretties but I’ve finally admitted to myself that I’m not very handy. So when I get to the point of not being able to stand it anymore, I’m more inclined to hire your neighborhood handyman. Similarly, I have always found it difficult to ask for help but I’m at the point where I finally understand the benefit of advisors, supporters, community. The earlier you surround yourself with thought leaders, movers & shakers, the faster you will grow. Make this a priority and reap the benefits.
